Snake animation

A simple joint chain, animated to look like a snake.

Here’s what the controls looks like. In a nutshell:

  1. Single joint chain turned into a “Character”
  2. Added Spline IK to the Character Control hierarchy
  3. Added a Sine and Bend deformer to the Spline IK curve
  4. Added Guide Control to head
  5. Added that to a Maya motion path

That’s it! Here’s the scene to play around with. You’ll need a newer version than is currently released, so stay tuned for the next release. It’ll still work, mostly. There’s one new attribute added to the solver in the next version, whose default value should produce a similar result.

Hey gang! Could you recreate this tutorial according to a new release of ragdoll. I mean the logic now is a bit different. Much appreciate that!

Sure can, the idea is the same. Except instead of a “Guide Control” you’d now use a Pin Constraint.
