How to make root marker move?

I have a root node for my characters hair setup, i found out that choosing the first joint of every strand, then their heirarchy, would lock that marker root.

I was hoping there was a way to make it so the root would also be able to rotate? or am i doing it wrong?

Try giving each strand a common parent, and start by assigning to it instead. That way, it will follow your animation, and all others will simulate.
