Hi Marcus
I have set up 3 characters, each in their own seperate maya scene file with ragdoll markers. I then referenced in each of these characters to a new scene multiple times to form a small group. I want them to come together and form a rolling pile of bodies but currently they do not respect each other’s collision. Is this because of my set up with referencing them in? (Self collision is on)
Hi @ChrisD, welcome to the forums! ![]()
Since each file has its own rSolver node, they would act as three separate physics worlds. In order for them to interact, they must all be part of the same solver.
- Select all three solvers
- Ragdoll → Edit → Merge Solvers
Let me know how it goes!
Unfortunately, nothing seems to happen. I have 7 characters in the scene, so 7 solvers. I have Imported the references now so they are all part of the scene and no longer referenced.
I have tried selecting the solvers and merging but nothing changes?
It’s difficult to tell without visuals. Are you able to post screenshots or videos? If not, can you try this experiment?
- New scene
- Make a new cube
- Assign a Marker
- Export scene
Next, in another new scene.
- Reference that first scene
Does simulation still work? If yes:
- Reference the first scene again
Move one of the boxes above the other. Do they both drop? Ignoring each other, but both landing on the ground? If yes:
- Select both solvers
- Ragdoll → Edit → Merge Solvers
That way, I’m able to do what you did to confirm what could the the issue.
Can you confirm what version of Maya and Ragdoll you are using?
Thanks, I will try your experiment.
Using Maya 2024.2 and Ragdoll 2024.07.01
Okay, the box test worked. After I merged the solvers the box landed on top of the other box.
The Solvers have obviously merged but it doesn’t delete the node which is what I was expecting.
I will go back to my character scene and try again.
I just got it all working. I reopened the scene after importing the references and selected the Solvers two at a time and merged them until I have just the one left. Now the characters are behaving as I would expect.
Many thanks for the help.
Great news.
It will work without importing references too. It would just be unable to delete your original solvers in that case, but it does not affect the result.
