Problem with recording simulation

same thing. ive updated to latest version of ragdoll and play every frame.
solver behaves how i want, the extracted joints however…does not.

Would it be possible to record yourself doing these three steps above? I’m confident we’re close to the issue now. If these don’t match, I’ll eat my hat and investigate your Maya scene myself. :crossed_fingers:

okay so…with play every frame its now matching the cached output. which is good. Its matching the joints which is good. However its lost the lovely drag overlap feel i wanted.

So im assuming play every frame gives you the true output and I need to soften up the settings in the group itself! getting somewhere. i’l keep you posted with the results.

That’s it. Based on the frames where skipped, roughly every-other frame, I’d imagine 0.5x of the current stiffness values should produce a similar effect to what you saw before.

Looking forward to seeing the final result.

thanks so much for taking the time to help me today. I know you’re very busy. I appreciate it. will keep you posted on the final results and will obvs tag Ragdoll with the final render too!

ok so the cache is stable but still cant get my rig to follow it!

cached, extracted, attached controls…
still not like the solver though. im going to try one final attempt from a clean scene then i may give up before i break something

You now have all of the debugging tools at your disposal.

  1. Extract Simulation Start by confirming that the extracted joints are equal to the simulation, do not attach any controls yet
  2. Extract Simulaton & Attach Once you are convinced they are the same (they are), manually constrain your controls or run it again with the option to attach the controls
  3. Record Simulation You’ll now be able to spot any issue with controls struggling to follow along, once those are patched up any subsequent record should run smoothly.

Reset the Record options to their defaults too when you’re at it, especially that Maintain Offset option that seem to have been disabled. It’s very unlikely this is unwanted.

If this is your first time using Ragdoll, then good on your for diving in the deep end right away. Subtle character-to-character interaction with complex rigs are no joke. The assignment of Markers looks great, collision meshes look great. The final recording bit can get tricky, don’t be too hard on yourself if things don’t make sense right away, it will start to make sense I promise. :crossed_fingers:

i think a clean scene rebuild will be what i need. i’l let you know. thanks
