MacOS M1 and Maya 2024

Since Maya 2024, Maya is able to run natively on Mac’s M1 hardware which is very cool and unexpected! But, alas, Ragdoll cannot. :frowning:

So in order to benefit from Ragdoll in Maya 2024, you’ll need to run Maya in the same way it runs Maya 2023 and below. Here’s how you can do that.

  1. Launch a Terminal
  2. Type this in
arch -x86_64 /Applications/Autodesk/maya2024/Maya.app/Contents/bin/maya

Notice the “arch” command up-front. This is how you tell MacOS that “Hey, run Maya under Intel x86 rather than the M1 instruction set”.

We hope to roll out an M1 version of Ragdoll over time, depending on interest. So let us know!

I currently have an M2 and would like to see this version. There’s probably plenty of other people out there that use a Mac.

Thanks for letting us know. We expect to give this more attention in the coming months as we roll out Ragdoll Standalone and Blender.
