Environment asset bug

Hello!

I stumbled across a weird issue - for some reason when i reopen a blender scene with rEnvironment assets some of them stop having collisions - so everytime i open a scene i have to create a new one. I dont really know whats causing this but its happening only to one of the rEnvironment assets that i have

Thanks for reporting this, we are investigating!

Hi @iSivert

Can you help me confirm that this is what you are experiencing? That when saved file re-opened, the shape of rEnvironment seems becoming a primitive cube.

The step I took in the video can be listed as follows:

  1. Make 2 cubes, 1 for environment mesh and 1 for simulation
  2. Assign environment and assign marker
  3. Hit play, they collides
  4. Move the cube to the edge of environemt mesh
  5. Hit play again, they still collides
  6. Save scene
  7. Re-open
  8. Hit play, no collision
  9. Move the cube back to world center (set X, Y to 0), they collides in an unexpected way.

And just to be sure, can you spot any error message from Blender System Console when you opened the file? Also, from your other post, I found you were using Blender 4.2, is that still correct?

Thanks

Quick update: This bug only happens on Blender 4.2+

And here is an workaround for the time being:

  1. Open broken scene file
  2. Select environment mesh object
  3. Hit Apply All Transforms
  4. Save scene file
  5. Re-open again and you should see it works as expected

Hi @iSivert , we have a new patch release for this Blender 4.2+ bug now. Before we update the download link on our website, you can find it here.

You won’t have to update Ragdoll Core, just update the Blender addon. Thanks!
